Not a resolution in sight.

There were lots of good intentions in Cardy-world of reviewing the year that was and making some resolutions for the year ahead, and here we are a week into the new year and there is not a resolution in sight! Oops! This year is already shaping up to be a busy one....I have moved into a different role and am currently working full time...it is all a bit challenging at present, but in a week or two I will have myself organised like I prefer to be.

Whilst I am not sewing at the pace of old, I have been pleased with these blocks that appeared in my WIP basket. I am thinking of making a few extra as I think they will look fresher without a border...what do you think?
But I have been busy creating in other ways...

spray painting an old cane chair...

To sit near this beautiful jar from my lovely daughter...how did she guess I would love it?

And assembling some spiffy red Ikea drawers...loving the red!

There was a delicious lunch in a Humpy-town with dear friends...and an attempt to whisk this away...unsuccessful unfortunately!

And sewing with friends.
And also time to talk with much loved but far flung friends who have been ill and others who have lost those near to them...my thoughts are with them.
How is your year shaping up?

  1. The WIP project would look great with a few new blocks and without sashing! Love the triangles on your new jar too!

  4. No New Year's resolutions here. You have been busy. I like the no border option with those blocks. They are looking good, you should definitely make a few more.

  8. You've been quite busy! If you're taking out time for family and friends and fun, I'd say you have your priorities right!

  9. Love the quilt you are working on. So far I am on target for the new year...relaxing stitching is my hope.

  10. Resolutions are so over rated. Not having them gives you the freedom to be more spontaneous(or so I tell myself !)

I agree about not doing a border . I think there is enough loveliness going on in those blocks..a border might detract from that.

LOVE those new Ikea drawers –they are the bomb! Red is my favourite colour and I don’t have any of it in my house so I’ll just live vicariously through you...

  11. Red furniture? Bring it on I say!
Great blocks, hmm borders can be over rated, but I depends on if you were thinking plain v pieced. I like a solid coloured border, but something plain that doesn't distract from the lovely blocks?

  12. I'm not a fan of New Years resolutions either. I really like your blocks and I think they look good without a border. Some designs just don't need one. I do like your chair and new drawers....are they for the sewing room?

  13. They say NY resolutions usually last only a week anyway. Good luck in your new job, it'll be a balance between that and sewing time. You did well getting more blocks made, I don't think it needs borders. You got some lovely gifts and lots of inspiration at the humpy.

  15. I'm wondering if you really have been to work with all that progress Miss Cardy.
I've chosen a word this year rather than a resolution as they don't last 5 minutes in my world lol
It was great to catch up with you and Mr Cardy

  17. Those blocks look terrific...I'm a "no border" gal with this one too.
Good luck finding that balance for the year!...but please keep sewing, so we can all drool over your creations.

  18. What fun projects at hand! I didn't do a recount of my finishes of 2013 either. We will both blame it on being too busy creating in 2014 already!

  20. I love the quilt without a border! You are one busy girl...and now working full time. I used to do it, but now I am just in awe of women who can juggle full time, family, and having time to sew. But you do it all so well!

  21. I too think your quilt looks lovely without a border Cardy! I don't make resolutions generally as I tend to forget about them the next day!
