Encouraged by Dawn, bloggers have shared how they morphed into their blog persona and it has been fun. So I guess it is my turn now. I had never heard of a blog until I attended the Girls Day in the Country at Nundle a few years back. After that I became a lurker, just wandering about and seeing what people were up to. At the following GDITC I was sitting at dinner on the Friday night with two ladies, introductions were made and I found out they were bloggers...Peg And Dale. Well, anyone that knows Peg knows that she is full of information...so she was pointing out bloggers and then she said...that is Chookyblue! OMG! I was like a teenager again who had found out the Bay City Rollers were in the room! (Sad time of my life I don't often discuss!) I am normally pretty respectful of personal space...but not this time as I dashed over and introduced myself to her. She was startled and obviously concerned I might turn all "stalker" on her, but was gracious and encouraged me into the world of blogging, ably supported by Maree and Peg! Then ensued a long conversation about names...my non blogging friends all joined in...there was lots of hilarity and false starts, but it was finally decided that I wear LOTS of cardigans...always have...love them...and must have one in nearly every color...so Cardygirl was born! I quite like it's neatness and often have people just calling me Cardy...I never had a nickname growing up...I have one now and I like it!

I am so with you about Chooky!! I would have done the same thing!! I only started blogging earlier this year, and her blog is one of the reasons I started!! I am a lurker on yours!!!
Cute story. S-a-t-u-r-d-a-y Night, I had that 45 record. I'm still ashamed about that
Great story. It is always fun to me trying to figure how the blogs got their names....I will post on my blog about mine....
that is a good story alison! and 'cardy' is a good nickname i agree, sounds friendly and caring etc., just like you! though we have never met in person, but only through our blogs, i consider you a friend, my very best
'cardygirl' friend !!!

And here I thought you were into paper crafts and made all your cards! How wrong was I. Thanks for sharing your story.

Lovely story, that is why I first ever clicked on you because I knew you must have liked cardy's. I too can't stop buying them, once I used to think they were for Nannas! Not any more - I love the three quarter sleeve ones too just to pop on over a t shirt etc, funny how we evolve. I am quiltjude because I started making quilts and giving them to friends. :)
How good was that night and weekend...Oh Cardy, you must have thought we all had a massive problem...LOL...(I can remember the first time Chooky made a comment on our Club Quilt bog, I really did think she was a whacko, how wrong was I)...it now seems like we have all been friends forever...thankyou to Kerry for organizing that night...luv ya Cardy...
Brilliant Funny Story. I am with you on both The Bay City Rollers (Derek was my personal favourite) & how I would act getting to meet Chooky. I love your name & there is nothing like a great cardy! Tracee xx
So fun to hear how you got your blog name!
Oh dear.... I am wiping tears from my eyes. That was such a funny weekend!! She was a little taken aback...!! But no need to be!!
These really are fun stories aren't they?!
Great to hear your story too.
I think Cardygirl really suits you :-)
Alison I must admit I have often wondered what 'cardy' stood for now I know and really enjoyed the story. If I ever see someone resembling you at a quilt show and this person is wearing a cardy I know it will be you.:-)
What a great story Alison. I always assumed it would have to do with cardigans :)
Enjoyed reading how you came about blogging and you have a great name. I saw it on Dawn's and had to see how the name came about.
What a fabulous name! Thanks so much for the story and I must go and check out Chookyblue.
Lucky you to have met those blog-stars before you started your blog!... I think Cardygirl is a great blog name, nothing nicer to throw on than a cardy... wish I had more of them....
I love your story so similar to myn...that chooky has a lot to answer for.....lol
i love cardy's too. Thanks for sharing your story.
hugs

Fantastic post! I too am wiping happy tears.
Blogging has brought so much to so many! :)
That's such a good story on how you came to blogging too. I love your name and it does suit you.
Great circle game blocks on your last post, they look awesome.
Thanks for sharing! I've always wondered what that meant :-)
lol - that is a fabulous story Alison, brilliant!
Great story Allison. I love your name and can relate as my Mum would always say 'don't forget your cardy'. I didn't have a clue who "chooky blue" was but kept seeing her icon all over the place when I was a newbie...so of course had to investigate and subscribe LOL!
Happened upon your blog while surfing the net a bit. Really enjoyed this story! Also enjoyed your quilts and other textile projects. Thought the ottoman was fantastic!

I've wondered about your name since the first time I "met" you, but I was too shy to ask. Thanks for sharing the story of both your name and your entry into blogging. I'm so glad you chose to share your quilting life with us.
(And thanks for trusting me enough to answer my request a few months ago.)
Fun to know! I always wondered... :-)
So much fun to read you story! Thanks so much for sharing! Cheers!
OOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! OK! I get it now! LOL
