Which layout????

Working with the octagons...which layout do you prefer?
I am in two minds...
as octagons and dots...
or floating snowballs????
 Lots of fun though.
We had a great time with DS at a lunch to celebrate his 21st birthday...
the most beautiful spot...
Bistro Molines in the Hunter Valley...perfect!

What a great part of the world to celebrate his birthday. Nothing like great food, wine and company! Floating looks nice, but I think it's one of those quilts where any layout is going to look fabulous.

Lovely spot for your luncheon...glad you had a nice time......tough choice for the layout...think I like the octagon and square version myself....either way the colours are just 'so you'...it's really lovely, Alison.....will we see it finished at Nundle???...lol...

Maybe I wasn't very clear when I look back at what I said, I mean the version in the last photo, the largest layout you have pictured....not sure what that one is called...they're both hexagons and squares...derr...it must be late for me!!!...lol...

Ooh, know thats a difficult decision cause they are both gorgeous. The floating snowballs are fabulous, but so are the octagons and dots. I'm no help! Perhaps you could make two of them!!
Looks like you had a divine day for his 21st and what an amazing setting. xo

They both look great, I do prefer the one on the left. I agree you can't go wrong which ever way you choose.

I'm not sure which is which, but I like the large layout best. It looks like you had the best day for the 21st.

Happy birthday to your man. Doesn't seem that long ago that we were watching them graduate and now they are 21. Time is too quick sadly.

Lovely spot for a long lunch for the 21st birthday !
Your octagons look good either way I think, have you done them all over papers?

I prefer the small squares to be on point. Really love this pattern and your lovely use of fabrics. What size octagons are they? I'm sure it will be lovely either way.

Happy Birthday to your son. It does look like a beautiful spot for lunch.
Either layout looks great, but I'm voting for the floating snowballs if that's the one with the dotty fabric on point. Great colours!

Sorry I take that back. The dotty fabric is not on point. Oh it's just too early in the morning for my eyes to focus straight!

I'll throw my two cents in too, since you asked! I prefer the layout where the small squares are on point. It gives more of a sense of movement to the quilt. It's looking lovely!
