Whirling and swirling...

Last night at the quilters pre Christmas meet, I realised that my blog was horribly neglected when a couple of my friends remarked on the nothingness swallowing my blog. Oops! The weeks whizz past, work and family life take the time that was previously devoted to sewing. And that is okay, whilst not a lot if sewing is happening, I find myself daydreaming of future projects, what to do with "special" pieces of fabric and planning some time on projects already underway....I am hearing the siren call of my double wedding ring, and am keen to get more done.
We have a two week shut down with work, and I am hoping there will be some sewing time there after the festivities...after the break I am acting in another position which will consume a lot of energy...definitely keeps the brain active if not my sewing fingers!
How do you manage the work/life balance? I think it is something we all struggle with.
I have been cutting out for my amitie BOM in readiness for the hoped for sewing time, but am feeling a bit like this....

Some days I would truly love to have some flying monkeys at my disposal, and some days it feels like I have been squashed under a house! My dear travelling buddy sent me this super cute book mark. ..knowing how much I would love it! Thanks Loz! Good witch today?

Now Christmas preparations are under way....the tree looks pretty despite a few nibbled presents...hmmm?

Jars of cookie mix for gifts (love making these)....

Just waiting for visitors to arrive home...the best gift of all! I am looking forward to seeing these smiles on Christmas Day.
And hopefully these scorching days will quickly pass and we will have a dash of rain!

Life does get in the way doesn't it? Hopefully you'll squeeze in some stitching time over the break. Your tree looks very pretty. I'm laughing at the legs, who do they belong to? Happy Christmas

I do fear sometimes that IG is really swallowing blogs. It is just so darn easy to post a picture or two. I know my life has been busier and blogging gets a bit neglected. Your gifts look great! Merry Christmas!

I feel that blogging shouldn't be an obligation. It's wonderful to share with others and get joy out of other blogs in return. It's nice to be missed when absent but life comes first. Crafting and blogging isn't a competitive sport -- it is a hobby. That's my 2 cents worth. Wishing you a peaceful and relaxing holiday and hoping you can enjoy some creative time as well.

What an interesting bookmark. This year I have felt more stress with work than in years past...I for one will be glad to get back to more normal days.

We all understand especially at this time of year. Blogging like sewing is for FuN so please we shouldn't stress about not doing it sometimes!

If it helps you any Ive been struggling with blogging and fitting everything in too lately. (It seems the only posts Im doing relate to booze and people are starting to think Ive given up sewing for drinking)

I love making cookie jar mixes too- easy to make, wonderful gifts to give.

Enjoy Christmas Alison , and hopefully we can both get some sewing in after the madness has died down!

Merry Christmas, as it's the silly season, I think everyone has lots of reasons for putting some things aside until later.
Shhh but I think Shay really has given up sewing for cocktail making :)

Couldn't resist the bookmark! Work/life balance is an interesting concept.....I think trying to take regular breaks is the key......'cause you do,have to take a break from stitching and go to work occasionally!!! Having said that I am looking forward to the break over Christmas....work has been crazy busy lately.....wishing you and your lovely family a wonderful Christmas.....and I hope Santa brings you some stitching time. Xx

Work life balance is a tricky thing, we all juggle and at times not very well. However blogging is not essential and certainly not to be forced as an obligation. Hope you do get some " me" sewing time over your break and go back to work feeling rested and recharged :)

Merry Christmas Cardy!
We all are a bit busy at this time of the year!
I also daydream! A brain full of ideas... but other priorities get in the way...
. . . and Being Mother Christmas. . . takes priority currently... but son No.1 just home, 2 hours ago... makes it all worth it.

Have a lovely Christmas and enjoy the break! Hope your new position will allow you some stitching time! I have been offered a promotion next year....but I need to negotiate hours as I don't want any less ME time! Xx
