Looking ahead...

January is quickly passing, was Christmas really a month ago? Busy remains the key word here, lots of things on, people coming and going. The new position at work is settling too, so life is moving along. We have fortunately missed the extreme heat that some friends have experienced, but my thoughts are with those suffering with the current drought.
Sewing is pretty much relegated to the evenings, and it is lovely to have that sewing time especially after the Christmas hubbub. The normal summer television drought is on...tennis or cricket or endless re-runs...so at least there is no reason not to stitch.

I have been slowly making progress on my cross stitch...I love fine linen but I am not sure how long I will be able to stitch on 40ct linen... Lucky my magnifying light helps! It is nice to cross stitch sometimes, and I love the naïveté of this one.

A belated gift has finally been finished...

It felt quite ironic sewing a Union Jack on Australia Day...oops!
The next few weeks will be busy too. I am fortunate to be attending a workshop hosted by Material Obsession with Kaffe Fassett and Brandon Mably in February. It will be pretty exciting, but I am still in the nervous phase at present. I need to spend some time looking at colours and getting an idea of what I would like to achieve. Fun times ahead.

I could not work on that fine linen these days but you look to be doing a great job. Jealous of your upcoming workshop at Material Obsession. Enjoy!

Your handwork is so beautiful. Love the tea cozy. TV can be quite a bore so I like to work on my crochet to pass the evening hours. Your work shop sounds exciting and certain to be very colorful!

Your cross stitch project looks like quite an undertaking. Such an interesting picture to tackle. I agree. When shows on TV aren't appealing, there's no reason not to be stitching.
Totally envious of your upcoming workshop. I'd be hyperventilating for the first hour. Looking forward to your report of how it goes.

Tennis and cricket they are good for reducing your stash. Love! Love your xs piece, can't wait to see it finished. Ah yes 40 count such joy. Very jealous of your workshop, I am yet to work up the courage to do one. Love your Union Jack and think it is quite appropriate for Australia Day... Libbie

I really like that cross stich pattern, it's a bit different from the usual. Your tea cosy is so fun, the Aussie flag has a union jack on it so it's fine for Australia day. I'm doing the Kaffe And Brandon workshop at Cottage Quiltworks, and like you , a bit nervous, but very excited, and yet to pick my fabrics.

We use to fly the Union Jack, so still celebrating our history! What a cute tea cosy! Love your cross stitch, but my eyes definitely not up to such fine work. Will look forward to seeing your progress, such a great pattern. I agree that TV has been dreadful, looking forward to end of school holidays and return of TV ratings period! Have a blast at your Kaffe workshop, Kathy is a darling, so sure you will have fun with whatever you decide.

The workshop is going to be so much fun, can't wait to see your fabric/colour picks for it.
I wish I could still do cross stitch, I used to really enjoy it.

You are going to have an absolute ball at the workshop. Dont forget to take a ton of pictures to share with us.

Love your cross stitch. Way back when I used to cross stitch and then quilting took over my creative life.

Im a bit worried that this year seems to be disappearing just like last year did !

I could not work on that fine linen either. 14 count Aida cloth is my favourite.
Have fun at the workshop, they hardly ever come to the west.
It's been hot here too!
