January 31....now that is scary! The only good thing about is that it is getting closer to autumn when the weather may be a bit more pleasant. Whilst we are always told not to wish our lives away, it seems time is just doing what it wants regardless.
There are some exciting sewing events coming along in the next couple of months, Kaffe and Brandon at MO, a weekend with friends in the Hunter Valley and then an inspirational weekend finally meeting some Melbourne blogging friends with a dose of MSG! Fun!
So, in preparation,I am trying to finish some golden oldies so that I will be able to work on the workshop projects with a relatively clear conscience. Do I hear laughter? I did say relatively!
This kit was purchased at The Old Country Store in that Amish tourist Mecca, Intercourse, PA. It is for a Roman Stripes quilt in Amish plains. It brings back memories of heading out with Loz in a taxi to see some quilt shops dotted around the countryside, all the time Hurricane Sandy bearing down on us and the purchase of our amazingly awful lilac rain jackets! What a hoot!
Interestingly the first patchwork top I ever made was in this pattern, and it has never been quilted as OMG, I picked some really odd fabrics! So this might be my opportunity to redeem myself and have a completed Roman Stripes quilt in my little collection. I am loving the gradation of colours.
And for something completely different...a new mini ironing board is happening!
I hope my Aussie farming friends have rain soon, and those in the northern hemisphere get some reprieve from their chilly weather.

Forget the ufo's and start packing, planning and writing shopping lists for all your jaunts. Autumn can't come soon enough if you ask me, and I hope it brings some rain with it.
I remember your posts about the trip to the US! Sometimes the most memorable trips are the ones that don't work out as planned.

I LOVE the Roman Strips quilt pattern! Yours looks like it will be stunning with all of the various gradations of solids! I hope you had a nice time in the U.S. despite Hurricane Sandy last year? Have fun for me at Material Obsession!
I'm with Susan!! What would the world be without a few UFO's sitting around lol. I was just sitting here thinking that tomorrow will be February how did that happen. Bring on Autumn.

I'm loving your Amish quilt already! You should get your first top out and finish it. Great ironing board cover fabric, you'll be finding excuses to iron things just so you can use it.

Wow! You do have some exciting times coming up! I love Roman Stripes. There is a very old Roman Stripes quilt hanging in a little restaurant/tea house I love to visit. Lovely! I cringe at some of the older fabrics I purchased...but then sometimes you see the same sort of design making the rounds again. You never know!

When I look back at what I didn't know when I first started quilting Im almost embarrassed but we all have to start somewhere - Im sure we've all made questionable fabric choices at some point. I know I have !

Weather plays such a huge part of our lives. We are having a horrible drought and no snow in Calif. This is very hard on our farming economy. I love amish quilts! Sounds like you have a fun February ahead!
