Fun in my fabric world....

Now, that is hard to believe!

The Scene: I have realised that I am going to the Hunter Valley with sewing friends.

The Dilemma: What do I take??????

I really love my DWR, but I take it to each retreat, and it is deflating my mojo just thinking about doing it again. So many little pieces! Whilst I am keen to finish it, I need to do something small, achievable and fun.

But what???

Everything I am doing at present is hand stitching....oh the agony!
Maybe the Smitten Quilt blocks will come along for the ride?

What do you like to sew when going away?

I'm no help, as I have never been on a sewing retreat! But I'd be tempted to take as much as I could- hand sewing, hand quilting, machine piecing and binding! And see how the mood strikes you! Have fun!

Wow, how delightful are those Smitten blocks! I always take handwork with me on a retreat, I just hate lugging a heavy sewing machine. But I always end up wishing that I was doing machine stitching like everyone else!

Oh gosh - I always take way too much. There is one lady at our retreat who always brings her DWR. I take a couple of simple quilts, hopefully already cut out. And definitely hand work. One group of ladies always gather in their jammies to work on bindings or applique before bedtime. And I have to take an extra 'just in case' project. In case I finish everything else. LOL! Or in case I'm missing something important and can't work on one of the others. Or in case I'm not in the mood for one of the others. Have fun!!!!

For me it's machine piecing for during daylight hours then some stitching or applique for the evening session. Of course I can never decide which project to take so I put them into individual tubs and squeeze as many as I can into the car. Funny.... I always want the one I left behind! Love those Smitten blocks....... :o) xx

Guilty of taking too much...because I get bored and swap projects through the day! Make something new...just a table runner, that you can start and finish!

Oh I wish I was going too, but 18th and 16th birthdays win on this occasion. I like to take a couple of different projects (in case I forget something critical for one)....and things that don't require too much concentration.....I know you'll have a great weekend.

If I know there won't be much sewing...really?... I take embroidery. It's easy to pick up & put aside.

I like to take machine sewing for during the day and some hand sewing for when I feel like relaxing on the lounge at night. If you really can't decide, there is always my quilt, you could sit and bind it for me you know. You know you want too ;)

I like to take hand stitching - it's way more social! :) Have fun!

I'm like the others who have never been on a retreat.

But I'd probably take something that isn't too precious . . . . re the wine spills and chocolately fingers.

A little bit of everything and way too much to ever get done is always my motto. Take your DWR or she will feel rejected! PS Have you OKed this time away with the cat?

I'd lead you astray and suggest a new project, lol. I have one that I've taken on retreat about three times but it's got boring too.

Ooh, take a bit of everything - hand, machine, appliqué - depends on what mood strikes you! Have a fabulous time.
