Fun in my fabric world....

Do you have any UPO's?

Interestingly, there is a flurry of activity around Blogland at the moment...groups to motivate us to finish (or even start) a project that has been snuggled in the dark recesses of our craft-brain.
Peg & Chooky are motivating us to finish our Gardeners Journal quilts... Shiree, Lyn & Melanie are encouraging us to do A Christmas Story...Peg wants us to do OPAM!
So, what is a UPO??????
An Unstarted Purchased Object! There are tons at my place...it must look like an amazing fabric dump site!
I wonder if it can be seen from space? Like the Great Wall it has developed over a lengthy period, been added to over different dynasties, until there is this amazing historical record....of fabric!
There are mauve Liberty's, country checks & sickly apricots...it all once had a purpose ( I think!)
...now mostly forgotten....what inspired me & when.
Well, thanks to your inspiration, this land fill is going to be cleared...
I will do my best to finish GJ, get that Christmas quilt kit unwrapped & clear that fabric clutter from my life!
And if I cannot bring myself to make/complete it...I will find it a new home!
What is the oldest UPO you have?

I love it.... Unfinished Purchased Object! That is a new one for me. I have so many, I couldn't begin to tell you how old my oldest one is at this point. But mine are all in different places in my studio. At least yours are all in one place.

Oh my word - oldest UPO - that is almost like revealing your age lol - I think my oldest UPO must be (at a rough guess) 22 years old - a little wildlife embroidery scene that I must have started before my cross-stitch days so I must have been about 14 - I discovered it last year in one of my mam's drawers - I was quite surprised when I opened the bag hehehe - I had forgotten that I had ever played about with these stitches - ohh deary me.

So I think that would be my oldest though there are many that follow behind - hope you get at least some of your UPO's started and maybe finished. And my oldest UPO is now tucked away in another drawer until I revist it to see if I can remember how to do any of those stitches now ;0)

Have fun with your UPOs :-)

Unstarted Purchased Objects.....UPO's love it......oh my I sure have lots of those.....suppose that's why i keep starting things and not getting things finished........lol.......mine wouldn't be as old as some re quilting but I would have some old ones if we include cross stitch cause I started that when I was single still..........

Arghhhhh.... it's too early in the morning to think about(and admit to) that one. I know I have them... but I can say that thanks to a huge clean out a few years back, there aren't too many UPO's that go back further than 4 years. Oh! but they are there.. Thanks for the reality check ha ha

well I actually have 1. It is complicated and have inset seams so I hope to do this when I am older and have much more patience.

UPO, I love it. I do have a few of those and it's a great reminder to get them out and either finish them, or pass them on to someone else to finish! Thanks for the inspiration xo

Isn't it fantastic Alison that we are starting to do all these projects together and get them finished. I must admit I love doing things with others rather than on my own.

You ONLY have one cupboard full of fabrics etc. I have a whole caravan full. Now my oldest UPO would be a cross-stitch wall hanging I bought and started in 1990 (20 years ago) OMG! Thanks for reminding me....

Oh my, one more abbreviation for me to remember! But, I love this one and like those above wouldn't dare
say how many UPO's are hiding throughout my house.
I am always threatening not to get one more thing until I finish all those UPO's but then my friend and I go shopping and.....you all know the rest! Nola

Heavens Cardy look at that cupboard - I bet you will find some lovely surprises in there. I am off to see what UPO's i have stashed away.

This seems to a very commom phenomenon. I have absolutely loads of things I'm "gunna" make. The cupboard is overflowing and there are also boxes. Far too many. Hopefully some will eventually happen. I too have cross stitch kits going back 20 years.

Ouch! I don't think thats a question I'd like to answer!!! Too old! Maybe just maybe I might have a little look in 'the' cupboard over Easter and make a list!

Not sure about any UPOs but I do have plent of UFOs. My theory is use it up or get rid of it...of course that's after many years of having it first.

Many many upo's running around in my head telling me to buy this fabric and make this or that. A very long list.
