Blossoms and Bindings.

Mum's quilt arrived back from the very obliging quilter (thankyou Michelle!) and I set to my favourite ( those who know my record slowness with binding can feel free to laugh here!) task of binding. But, it is for my dear mother, so I jumped straight into it & steadily stitched until it was completed...mum is definitely worth the very tender finger I have! If I put on a thimble I just keep changing fingers until I find a thimble-less one. I tried a stick on pad but pulling it off an already sore finger was not very nice!
Here it is bound, just awaiting it's label...I hope she likes it!
Spring is really here, my garden is full of irises & blossoms, trees bursting into life. I love this time of year but hate the thought that another hot, dry summer is headed my way. Driving to Tamworth yesterday there was a big snake dead on the road...I hate snakes & worry about them around the house. But it is lovely to have the prettiness of a spring garden.

Ah Alison, it has turned out beautifully, what a wonderful suprise for your Mum in her new home. I'm glad the snake you passed was dead, I don't mind dead ones but I hate live snakes!!!! Gorgeous spring flowers xo

So pretty! She's going to love it. I'm not sure why but I love binding. I think it's because I can snuggle down in front of the TV, lol.

Beautiful quilt; I really love that block. I share your tendencies to delay binding. It is the only process in quilting, other than basting, that is not enjoyable for me.

That's a great looking quilt. I like that block a lot. I've been saving up my bindings for cooler weather, which has now arrived so no more excuses for me. How do you do your labels? I need some inspiration in that area so I'll do it more.

Your Mum's quilt looks great. I'm sure she will love it in her new home. I love your blossom tree. We saw lizards sunning themselves on the road yesterday, so I expect the snakes are also out and about. Yuck!

Your quilt is absolutely beautiful Alison. I always have saw fingers after binding too. Thimbles do weird things to the way my fingers act in the normal process of sewing...why is that?

If I was your mother, I'd cry at getting such a wonderful quilt. It looks beautiful. I know it's spring, from the hayfever and mosquito bites.

Why do we get stuck on the binding, I wonder. My very first quilt still had safety pins holding the binding several years after I pieced it...LOL. Well done for getting into it...I admire that ;)
Definitely Spring around here...yuck! No stitching for me when my eyes are stuck shut!

I'm sure your mum will love the quilt! It's beautiful and full of love!!
I do the same thing when I put a thimble on for anything but quilting. It doesn't work for me.
