Almost grumpy...but not quite!

We can all hear the sound of an approaching Christmas...it will be here before we know it!
I was at the local shopping centre yesterday and they were playing carols that were a little tacky for my taste...Boney M Christmas???? All the decorations and hard sell...it is very tiring when I am really wanting peace and a sense of tranquillity from what should be a gentle time of the year...am I going mad? I love giving gifts and the sense of excitement that Christmas brings, but it really does get tiring at times...or am I turning into the grinch?
To lift the mood I decided to finish this lovely felt ornament that Fiona sent to me. She and Sylvia hold wonderful workshops and retreats...wish I was a little closer! Isn't it great? I enjoyed every minute of it...think it worked well at lifting a possible bah- humbug moment!
As I was engrossed in Doc Martin (I think sometimes I sound a bit like him...eeek!), I thought I should finish this binding...many of you will know my aversion to binding...it has only been a year!
And I even started some present sewing...did the zippers first as they are the least fun bit!
Hope you have some sewing time!

I love all things Xmassy...
but boney M ... might be too much?
It's scary with December just around the corner isn't it. Where has this year gone? Do you have it... :)

I know what you mean, I like Christmas but not all that goes on before hand and all the madness

No you aren't the grinch. Lots of us can remember when Christmas wasn't so commercial and dare I say tacky. Take a deep breath (and a few stitches) and focus on the love.

I don't like to see decorations up too early...it spoils it as does Easter Eggs in February.
Lovely decoration and well done on the binding.

Love your Christmas quilt. I'm using some of the same fabrics in the snowman quilt that I'm working on. I hear you about all the Christmas craziness. We are trying to simplify all the spending this year and concentrate more on the things that really matter but the retail push is overwhelming!

It's only going to get worse, too :) I only hit the shops when I am in the mood, if I can help it...and I'm trying to get organised a bit earlier than usual this year, so as to avoid all that last minute rubbish. Tempers get so frayed in the heat, when people are rushing around and under pressure! (and not just mine, either LOL)
Boney M at Christmas...that may be taking it a bit far LOL!

I agree, people let themselves get so frantic at this time of the year. A few years ago we took a step back and toned our christmases down. That is much easier to do once the kids get older though LOL
Have fun with your binding, something I hate too - I sewed the binding down on 2 tablerunners today, still have 2 quilts to go!!

Yah.....Boney M Christmas carols......not on my list of Christmas songs......and shopping centers are to be avoided at all costs especially at this time of year.....I have a love/hate relationship with bindings.....love that the quilt is finished...but not so keen on the time it takes me......

Shopping at this time of year can get very tiresome & it starts earlier each year. You are not alone in your thoughts. Love the ornament. Tracee xx

Your felt ornament has turned out so well. Just take a deep breath and sew lots to take away the Christmas angst! I love it normally but am finding it hard to get motivated to decorate.

Love the ornament, nice way to overcome those 'bah humbug' thoughts... been having a few of them myself lately.....

They were playing Christmas music on several radio stations here in New England 2 weeks ago! I have a rule - day after Thanksgiving it comes out, not before! One fellow, down the street, had Christmas decorations on his lawn before Halloween - he had this big blow up Santa in a chimney (do you guys have those?) but we had a freak snowstorm a couple of days before Halloween and it got trashed. We have to worry about ice and snow here, which does make people cranky and a bit crazy. I'm not a Boney M fan, but I do like their Mary's Boy Child/Oh My Lord song. Normally, I'm a Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole, Perry Como fan with a bit of Mannheim Steamroller thrown in.

I love Christmas music--but the Fairytale of New York and Harry Connick Jr type carols. I heard Justin Beiber's Christmas music the other day and wanted to bang on my head to get the music out of it. Terrible!

I love your projects! The ornament is adorable and the binding will be well worth it in the end. I shouldn't admit this, but I have a quilt that is over ten years old that needs a bit of the binding sewn on it. I HATE binding and basting. The rest of it--love it. It's the two Bs that drive me to distraction!
