Fun in my fabric world....

A stitch here, a stitch there...

A stitch here, a stitch there, slowly some progress is made on my current projects.
Last weekend I was fortunate to spend some time with friends including the always clever Marg and delightful Jean.

Some progress has been made on my vase of flowers, elements are still changing, but I am finding a place I am happy with. It really is a great leap of faith to create this way. No pattern, just a starting point and the ability to find the confidence to make my own choices and make something that is a reflection of me at this time in my life.

It would be lovely if someone could look at this quilt ( see, I am actually planning a finish at some stage!) and "see" me.....hopefully they will not think I needed medicating at this time!

My recent foray into the world of clamshells has resulted in my DD requesting a queen sized clamshell quilt...eek! At present I am going to do a bit of a prototype block, make sure my technique is right before I attempt the Giant Clam!

She has requested blues, greys, whites. I have never been a big blue fan, so I am looking forward to stretching my boundaries with this. There are going to be a lot of six inch clams....here are some, there will end up being every shade imaginable!

What colour do you find you avoid?

Against all reasoning (mine) I have recently embraced *shudder* . . . brown . . . and guess what?! my colour world didn't cave in!

Those red checks are massive! Too daunting for me . . . . .cant wait to see your progress.

I resist using purple and if you had a sneak peek in my stash you'd be hard pressed to fins even a fat 1/8th of it unless I needed to buy some for a swap. Love what you are working on, very cheery and bright like you is what I think when looking at it :) Barb.

I think that's a perfect idea Cardy - can't wait to see how it evolves - I am active avoid-er-er of blue, but am finding in recent months that it really needs to be used sometimes.

I love the red check background, it is looking really lovely already.
There's no one colour group I avoid, theres usually even a yellow or brown I like. I do dislike intensely, bottle green, burgundy and bright egg yellow.

I think your quilt is definately 'you', bright, lively and fun. I have avoided green since I can remember. Sharyn:)

I do admire the msg quilts, but I think they are a little too far outside my square. Love watching your progress though! I love clamshells, not a huge fan of sewing them but they look so good at the end. Green and yellow are the colours I steer clear of. I really like the new blues with the edge of teal and grey.

Hmmm, just checked out that pile of fabrics and seems like we have been shopping together again, though not physically getting off the lounge! Great minds thinking alike! I avoid those bright delft type blues like the ones in Chinese pottery but love the tealy blue hues!

I'm in love with the buffalo check background for your applique! :o) I avoid purple. I used to avoid orange but I'm finding I'm drawn to some delicious shades of orange these days. The clam shell will be a stunner. What we'll do for our children!

Your quilt is looking wonderful. The big gingham background is an inspired choice. That blue stack for the clamshells is gorgeous. I've learnt that just when I don't like a colour then I'll see something that proves me wrong.

I avoid purple and although I like green I never seem to have the right one in my stash! Guess I need to buy more!

That background is way cool! I love blues they are defiantly in my comfort zone, but I run from all shades of pink. Have fun with the mega clam.
