The Great Nothingness!

As evidenced by my lack of posts lately, I have been swallowed by the great nothingness! No interest in anything stitchy, a complete blah really! And it wasn't helped by waking this morning with an eye like a puffball!  GREAT! Now I look like an "ork" according to my loving children...probably just allergies...soooo attractive!Oh well, that happens...I try & try to pull myself out, look admiringly at what you are all doing...try to get up a flicker of excitement &....poof... it blows out! Usual reasons (we have them all!!!)...too much paid employment... too little rest time...too much happening really to justify fiddling in the sewing room.
 Great excitement....
from getting a new ironing board cover...pretty huh?
I have gone back to my beginnings...cross stitch...hours spent on night shift many years ago resulted in an ongoing devotion...easy to do of an evening...love the overdyed threads & antiqued linen. Blackbird Designs are always stunning. Might get me motivated again!

Maybe there's something in the air, because I've just started my first cross stitch for some years. I'm just doing an initial for myself, I'm unsure what for yet. There is something about hand sewing, and cross stitch in particular, that's meditative and peaceful.

Pretty ironing board cover and cross stitch. Yes, maybe that will help you find your mojo again. Sometimes we all just need a bit of a break.

Sorry to hear you are not 100%, I hate allergies! I love your ironing board cover, where do you find one so cute? I hope your cross stitch helps, like Joan said, sometimes you just need a break. Thinking of you xo

Cardy......hope the 'ork' look has subsided....so we need to find that mojo of yours, can you remember where you may have left it?

Your cross stitch is beautiful! Have you already met Carolien from the Netherlands who does all the beautiful counted cross stitch? You two have quite a bit in common.
Hope you get to feeling better soon!

Awww Cardy - hope your eye is better.

I often have periods of crafty breaks - I think we need them to recharge our batteries and get on with some normal life. I have a couple of cross-stitches on the go but am having a big cross-stitch break at the moment as I have been enchanted by stitcheries - so the cross-stitch is on the back burner (my current project is on black aida and I find that a struggle - plus it's massive and I get put off by the scale of things... I never seem to make much progress lol).

It's nice and good just to have a little potter now and again and why shouldn't you? You will get your enthusiasm back when the time is right I am sure.

Take care

I have never seen a prettier ironing board. Speaking of which mine is loaded with things to iron.

HI, thanks for your comment on my blog. You mentioned something about me being "no reply" so needing to "come this direction". ?? I don't know what that means. Still learning new things about the computer every day. I get comments on my blog daily, so I don't understand what that means. Is my blog hard to reach? I appreciate your help if there is something I am not doing right.

LOL It's surprising how many of us have turned to cross stitch recently. I really enjoyed the peace of stitching lately. When I worked nightshifts I turned out dozens of cross stitched items.

I'm on the search for a new ironing board cover. Why do they all have to be so boring? Absolutely LOVE your new one.

So nice to have company in the great nothingness, grin.
I am just off of a cross-stitching kick and couldn't seem to get around to doing anything, now I am crocheting an afghan, knitting a pair of socks, and working on some knitted washcloths for my sil.
So it always ends, we just go on to something else. BarbM
