Ironing board magic

The  worst of my big assignment is done, just some fine tuning of referencing still to be done, but I feel very relieved that it is out of the way for now. So that enabled a little fiddling today...a nice change from a recently hectic pace...tidying & organsing my incredibly messy sewing room...vacuumed and dusted so it looks respectable...sorted bags into project boxes...do you feel better when you restore order to chaos?

For months I have been meaning to recover my mini ironing board...inspired by a Cotton Way pattern I added some fun to the sewing room...Bliss does brighten a room doesn't it?

Here is a corner...it looks so tidy...maybe need to do another pic in two weeks...hmmm?

Feels like I am about to go down with a cold...a hot drink & pyjama's might help!

When did that happen?

As you know, not a lot of time has been spent stitching here....
so today when I went into my sewing room, I had a nasty shock!

It was a terrible mess...stuff thrown everywhere...no sense of order...chaos ruled.

Oops...sadly there is no one to blame but myself...so I decided to take control.

It took some time, but I once again feel that lovely calmness when I walk through the door

...and I have to tidy up as Chookyblue is paying me a visit...yay!

It looks so much better.

I was also lucky enough to win a pattern from Natalie at Cinderberry Stitches...
and I have finished this baby quilt top.

So, a rather productive day...good for the soul...

Sewing room tag...

Robyn dared us all to show our sewing rooms/areas... so here goes!

I took over my DH's study when he was no longer working from home...I used to have stuff all over the house, now it is pretty much in the room as well as 2 baskets in the family room where I sit at night. DH still gazes wistfully at his ex-study...but he's been pretty good about it!

I have a bookcase...still share a shelf or two with him...hehe...where I keep patterns, books & little bits & pieces...

There is an old meat safe that holds fabrics, WIP's, button jars, linens, laces & threads...piled high with quilts for the cat to sleep on... a spot for my cutting mat with a light above it...

a desk with the usual paraphernalia...repros in a box on the floor...

a corner with books, chair...basket with current inspirations in it...no one can ever get to the chair!!!!...a little ironing board...

and the rest of my books...cut strips in a shoe box...stranded threads in a folk art box...lace from Paris (thanks Julie & Raelee)...an enjoyable space!

Boring sewing & necessary evils.

It was a cool & very windy day today...not nice to be outdoors at all. So, much to the horror of the males in my home, I decided that "tidying up" was to be the order of the day! It was hard & it was boring but it needed to be done. Why do teenage sons marvel at the number of socks under their beds?But now there are beautifully tidy bedrooms, "stuff" put away PROPERLY & a sense of order once more.
Bliss!

The sewing room needed order to be returned...the pile of mending (boring!) is done (why does it take 8 months and 1 hour to do that mending...hehe)...fabric is sorted...shelves are dusted...and the floor is now thread free.
Aaaah!

Why do we put these things off, but then so enjoy the finished result?I am now ready to attack the fun things with renewed vigour!
