Adding a bit of Zing!

The weather is definitely getting cooler...nice to sit in a sunny spot & stitch. My cross stitch is progressing nicely...just the borders to finish off...it has been lovely & I do enjoy working with the overdyed threads.

What else has been happening? DS has succumbed to ? glandular fever, ?strep throat whilst away at uni. DH did a mercy dash yesterday to check on him...he seems to be improving...do we ever stop worrying about them? Mum is coming up for the weekend as it is Mothers Day here in Australia. It will be nice to see her.

Work continues to grow & place pressures on for me to take on another day...I need to assess the different workplaces & develop a plan so that they all function & compliment each other.

BUT, on to the fun stuff...

a little bit of shopping at the Quilt Show & in Newcastle...some gorgeous American Jane to make a funky winter skirt...red piping...I am thinking black boots & it will give winter a bit of ZING!

DD has been keen for this cushion for some time...I think it will be nice in the Amy Butler!

A cookbook for DD...some yummy treats...mmmm!

My tree is only standing in her underwear...a good breeze & winter will be here!

Friends!

Oh, I have had  a lovely day! Friends for lunch...dear Chookyblue & Fairygirl dropped by...a great treat! They were joined by my non blogging friend, Lea....there was lots of chat about the Girls day in the Country at Cottage on the Hill,Nundle coming up in March. The guest tutor will be Anni Downs...it will be a fun weekend!

One of my friends is off to Africa tomorrow & didn't have her stitching organised (gasp!), so I traced off this stitchery for her this afternoon...it will help to fill in those quiet moments no doubt.

I have been trying to catch up with my Sue Ross BOM...applique medallion under control, but still need to stitch the previous block...but there was a certain someone running interference...hmmm!

I mad a yummy roasted beetroot, sweet potato, fetta & macadamia nut salad a few days ago...bought some more beetroot today...doesn't it look lovely!

Stitching day Part 1

Each school holidays I get together with a couple of my stitching friends to have either a new project or catch up day. Last time we made Bonbon bags, but we decided we needed to work on some of those projects which had been WIP's for a bit toooo long!
Well, today was the day...I was like a schoolgirl waiting for my friends to arrive...the dining area was set up with power cords, cutting mats & iron...lunch was organised.

The day started with show & tell...Julie has finished a quilt for her son...

she also made this lovely bruschetta...

and then she began working on the last few blocks of this fun quilt

(she is being very good & getting some WIP's done so she can start something special)!

Raelee was the recipient of the hexagon project I had been working on...a birthday present...no excuse to lose this amazing pincushion!

Lots of chatting & a lovely lunch...I managed to do some sewing this time...that will be the next post.
