Pincushions, parties, pruning and play!

We are now in April...the leaves are falling from my trees and the year is whizzing by. This week has seen the submission of a major assignment (phew) and part of my working week covering my manager who was having some well deserved leave whilst addressing some very challenging client behaviours. Glad it is all over.
Last weekend at Nundle seems a loooong time ago! Seems like the builder will start levelling floors in the new home after the Easter break...it will be nice to see it start.
Part of the GDITC was a pincushion swap from one of Sue Daley's patterns. Mine was a six pointed star...I was happy with it...but I will never know what the recipient thought...not a word or acknowledgment so I will never know where it ended up or if they liked it. Awful really as you go to all that trouble and you never see or know if it was appreciated or not. Oh well....you don't participate in swaps for accolades, but it is nice to be acknowledged. Didn't our Mums teach us to say thankyou?

I received this lovely apple core pincushion from Maree! I have met Maree before and have long been blogging buddies...so it was great to receive this pincushion and some lovely pins from her. Thankyou, it is perfect and will be a reminder of Maree & GDITC 2012 whenever I use it!
Little else of note has happened this week, some pruning in readiness for the house to be listed for sale, and that ongoing declutter.
But yesterday I decided to play with the soul searching quilt...I had red strips ready( I love red), but could not get "into" it...so I swapped for pink instead...loving this! I did not realise how much I really do love pink...maybe that is part of the soul searching journey????
Last night was Lea's daughters 21st birthday party...themed with songs from our childhood. I hate fancy dress so was in a quandary...here I am with a Blues Brother, Mouseketeer and me...as Sadie the Cleaning Lady (complete with original '45 from 1968...am I old or what!). Funny.
Missing all the fun of the Nundle crowd...glad they are home safely!

More Nundle 2012

Funny how the weekend just whizzed by!
Catching up with friends, Chooky and Jenny,
 and making new ones...
chatting with Peg and Dale...
catching up on news since we last met, Trish, Bronwyn and Lea...
and even managed some stitching too.
We attended Sue Daley's Trunk show on Friday night (Peg and Dale loved it)...
this was my favourite... in brights of course!
  Lots of clamshells...
loved these little ones...
And here is the clamshell hussif we started on Saturday...
 Kerry and Sue...
A few more pics still to share!

Nundle and beyond...

Another year, another Girls day in the country hosted by the always lovely Kerry.
Each year there are lots of happy faces, LOADS of chatter and quite a few hysterical moments!
Meeting new friends, putting faces to blogging pseudonyms and catching up with friends from weekends past, really it is bliss. Sadly this year some faces were missing due to family commitments and loss...and even a sick child...just the stuff of life really, but we all had a great time.
Some friends had come a looong way...South Australia, Victoria and Queensland...many hours on the road,
but we were so glad to see them, and they were just as lovely as we imagined!
All that fun and excitement can be really tiring!
Hope everyone travelled home safely...we will have to plan next year!

Hard to believe...

...it is nearly the third anniversary of Cardygirl blogging. We are getting ready to head north to Nundle in a few weeks for the annual Girls Day in the Country with Kerry from The Cottage on the Hill, where the blogging bug first bit! This year our tutor is Sue Daley...paper piecing will be our task...lots of fun...wonder what we will do?
Life remains busy here...meeting builders about the renovation plans...lots of decisions. So I am spending time with emails, trying to do my uni work and having a busy month with family commitments. Not a lot of time to blog, but hopefully that will ease a little.
But I keep putting off something I have had planned since early January...now I am thinking...an anniversary and lots of lovely bloggy friends deserve some recognition! So I am planning on sending off two parcels later next week...leave me a message about whatever you would like to say to me (be nice though!), let me know which parcel you would like in your letter box....
some paper piecing essentials like I have...
or some fat quarters that Anni designed.
Don't blog about it, just let me know that you are out there listening to this ramble before March 10 and a little parcel may find it's way from me to you!
